In Greek mythology “Oneiroi” (Dreams) were the dark-winged spirits that ruled over dreams, nightmares and oneiromantic symbols. The Greeks attributed a lot of importance on dreams. A dream for them was a mean of being certain of the will of the gods and an instrument for predicting the future. For the Greeks, dreams were also a mysterious revelation of a world unknown to a man and yet just as real as the world in which they lived.
